I teach ongoing classes at simplyYOGA as well as sessions through Charlottesville Parks & Recreation.

Classes at Smith Aquatic and Fitness Center are ongoing, drop-in classes.
All classes are held at simplyYOGA on the downtown mall unless otherwise indicated.

class descriptions

All Levels Hatha:
Traditional yoga postures and breathing techniques are taught with a meditative focus. All levels welcome; some challenging postures may be introduced.

Beginner’s Hatha/Hatha Yoga: Warm-up stretches and simple yoga postures combined with basic breathing exercises make this class a welcome introduction for students at a beginner level.

Gentle Yoga: This gentle stretching routine, safe for all ages and body types, provides toning and flexibility to seniors as well as students who prefer a gentle approach due to illness, fatigue or recent surgery. Practice may includes some yoga exercises in a chair. For students who are uncomfortable getting up & down from the floor, a chair can be used alternatively for the entire session.

Healthy Back Yoga: Learn basic yoga postures to help strengthen the back as well as routines to alleviate chronic back pain caused by stress and poor body mechanics.

Yoga for Beginners: See Beginner's Hatha above.

Yoga for Lunch: Take a break from your desk and return with a new outlook. This stretching class will leave you feeling refreshed, renewed and ready to face the afternoon with a smile. Gentle stretching & basic yoga postures, along with breathing exercises, make this class appropriate for beginner students.

Yoga for Older Adults: Gentle stretching and basic yoga postures safe for young seniors & elders. Practice includes some yoga exercises in a chair. For students who are uncomfortable getting up & down from the floor, a chair can be used alternatively for the entire session.


Come prepared for class:
  • Yoga should be practiced on a fairly empty stomach. Use your best judgment. If you must eat something prior to class, make it light.
  • Wear comfortable, nonrestrictive clothing. Remove belts & excessive jewelry.
  • Yoga mats and any necessary equipment will be provided, but you may bring your own mat or towel if desired.
  • In consideration of the teacher, other students, and for your own benefit, please arrive on time.
